BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of Support The Girls Australia. The charity is predominantly managed and run by volunteers being a non-funded grass roots charity. Our volunteers are pivotal to us being able to support women and girls in Australian communities. We have numerous roles for our volunteers and it is entirely up to them how they would like to donate their time.
So if you are wanting to give back to your community, or you would like to meet more people and want to be appreciated for the values you can bring to others come on board and join us.
We adhere to the National Standards for Volunteers to ensure our Volunteers are supported.
Are you ready to put your Bra Fairy Wings on and help transform disadvantaged women into empowered individuals? If the answer is yes, then we need you now.
There are many ways in which you can contribute your time to Support The Girls Australia and help us make a difference. We appreciate that everyone leads a busy life so you choose what suits you and your lifestyle.
Drop Off Point – This is a vital role as it gives us more coverage around the country.
Work with our Outreach Team – Our outreach team members are selected based on very specific criteria to ensure they can meet the multiple needs they may find out on the streets. Training is provided.
Co-Ordinate Events – with our growth comes the need for more events. We host them on a regular basis around the country so if it is your passion then we would love to hear from you.
Fundraising – Are you a guru and want to add your magic creative skills to the our team, then we would love to hear from you.
If you have a skill or talent that you would love to share with us, just let us know.
The Outreach Project has multiple arms. There is the Street Outreach Project, Remote Outreach Project and our Service Provider Outreach Project.
Street Outreach Project
The Street Outreach is supporting women and girls at various locations on the streets. We collaborate with other support services such as Orange Sky Laundry service. By working side by side, we can build stronger support systems for those women and girls in our communities that are the most disadvantaged. For this we ideally prefer volunteers with some experience in dealing with trauma, or a social work background. It is not essential.
Remote Outreach Project
The Remote Outreach Project is exactly what is says. We are only too well aware that there are women and girls in some of the remotest communities in our country that simply do not have access to the basic necessities in life. This is either due to remote location or the exorbitant cost of the items within their communities. For this we require volunteers that have the time and flexibility to be on the road for possibly a day or even a two-day trip.
Service Provider Outreach Project
Our aim for 2020 is to connect with a lot, more service providers and host Bra Gifting days at their locations. This is twofold. Firstly, it allows us to support services and their clientele with a service that is unique, and they cannot provide, and it also allows them to expand and compliment what they do for their clients. This gives us the capacity to support more women that we normally would not get an opportunity to support. The criteria for this role is the same as our Bra Fairy volunteers.
